Its seems like its hard for GF to figure out how to properly include the professor role into the storyline after the beginning., That's why most of them just pop up in random cities to chat for a bit before leaving I guess.
And it's definitely cute. It was such a cocktease to mention in XY that Sycamore studied under Rowan but not give any further details or stories. That'd be an interesting dynamic to see.
