I hope it's something like sequels. Takes place 20 years after the originals. Expand the map, add new characters, maybe even throw in some new Pokemon that's just been discovered.
And if they're REALLY ballsy:

>Regional variants of non-kanto fan favorites.Something like Kantonian Lucario, Gardevoir, Gallade, Haxorus, Metagross, Zoroark, etc.
>Make some of the original 151 go extinct.Something like the Dodrio line, the Dewgong line, and the Primeape line. But they can be resurrected via fossils but with the new added Rock typing.
For example:
- Dodrio: Normal/Rock
- Dewgong: Ice/Rock or Water/Rock
- Pimeape: Fighting/Rock
And on the flip side of that:

For example, make the Cubone line part Ghost or Dark now because they had to adapt to living in the Pokemon Tower, make the Onix line part Electric because they had to adapt to life in the darkness of Rock Tunnel, or have the Dratini line become partly Water type because they had to adapt to life in the deep lakes of the Safari Zone.
