What if there is a Pokemon Switch reveal at E3 this year but the release date is early 2019? Would that count as 2018 fags winning or 2019 fags winning?

2019 fags would win, people were saying the game would be revealed earlier this year and be out....around now I think. Also your scenario is the most likely, though iirc Nintendo made a statement saying they were only focusing on 2018 games this E3, so if they announce Pokemon, then bang, 2018fags win.

I don't care either way personally, if it turns out to be a Kanto re-remake I'm just dropping the series for good.

The claim is, and has always been, "when the game is coming out". That's why people hope for late December release, even back then.
If it's release on the first of January 2019, then it's the 2019fags victory, regardless of how you wanna spin it.
