While I'm excited, an outdated game that has already been out in Japan for some time is not going to sell that much.

That game is already out in japan and is basically a hd remaster/upgraded version of a 3DS game already avaialable in both europe and Japan, and most of the die hard fans of the series have alreasy bought the japanese version or played it on cfw on the 3ds. It's not gonna move huge numbers of switch.

Vanilla version is avaialable worldwideonly for 3ds.
The XX/Ultimate version is out in Japan on both 3ds and Switch, and in Euope only on Switch. Mosof the guys that wantetd to play the game on Switch already bought the japanese version because Capcom said they basically had no plans to bring this over to europe and america, so I agree it's not gonna raise the number of Switch by a good amount.

Its been a year since XX came out and I don't recall Generations being THAT explosively popular in the west, not to the level World got at least. Most people who really wanted it probably played it already since theres no region locking, and I don't doubt it'll sell, just not to the point its shifting a ton of consoles. If it was a brand new game in the series I could see it happening but its just HD Generations

MHGenU won't be as successful as MHW.
MHW was streamlined to appeal to a western audience that never played a MH game before. MHXX/GenU still has a lot of inconveniences that the "old" MH games had and that aren't present in MHW. MHW is just the better game. I think it's actually risky to bring XX over, since people that played MHW but not te older games will be disappointed.

Am I the only one who thinks all these ports and 3rd party titles are kind of a double edged sword? Nintendo consoles are successful because the Nintendo franchises are successful. Skyrim, Darksouls etc. may be good games, but do you buy a Nintendo console for ports? Imo Nintendo needs to release more 1st party titles.
