That was dangerously bordering into edgy territory and extremely tone deaf compared to how the game actually was (mostly happy and cutesy), it was selling you a different game, and the music was bad. The animation is nothing impressive, not a lot of interesting or particularly complex movement going, lots of panning, and abused close ups and effects to make up for it.

That said, it's overall not bad and it really got people hyped a lot more than the ORAS animated trailer did because it knew exactly what to show. The ORAS trailer topped it in animation and sound design but hell, that was just Mega Evo whoring and showed one gym leader that has like 5 fans instead of showing someone actually relevant like Norman or Wallace. We didn't even get to see Steven or Magma and Aqua.

Sweet lord that's good. Pokemon saying their own names is one of the worst things among the franchise's most iconic aspects. It seems to bleed more and more into the games themselves unfortunately.

This trailer is glorious. Watched it this week and immediatley fired up Black 2 and started a new game. The starters are still gay though so I transfered in a Piplup from my Black version as an alt to my starter. Picked Oshawott to keep it fair. I never used Piplup and its line so I figured why not.

I remember /vp/ the day this game out. The hype was unreal. Multiple threads about how everyone looked, the protagonists talking, comparing new Plasma to old, the Pokemon variety, just everything about it. People were also sharing a mediafire link that was a copy of the video with a txt file for the translation. No doubt about about it, people were anxious for B2/W2 to come out.

But anon's right though, the B2W2 trailer isn't even well animated, but its storyboarding and direction is top notch whereas ORAS was animated by a known god veteran, but the storyboarding lacked any spectacle despite having top notch animation.

That's a fucking gag comic.
And it lasts one volume an arc.
It's not the main one.
Regardless if it was first.
It's serialized in a side magazine that's bundled with CoroCoro that lasts like 8 pages per chapter.

The main one is Adventures, the one that gets literally all the autograph signings, the one Pokemon Company actively promotes, and the one that has an actual scanlation group that regularly does the translations.

If you were to compare it to the ORAS animation where it's much like the SM anime where it's constantly in motion/animated, you'd tell right away that the B2W2 trailer is mostly static.

But the thing that the B2W2 trailer does is better is its presentation, which is something ORAS failed at doing because Game Freak wanted to maximize profits by enticing players with all of their new MEGAS.

I guess my post came off as negative but my point was how a good plan and knowledge of what the source material is and what people want overcomes any technical and budget limitations (and imho, misteps like the music, Unova has a lot of rich musical composition and they put just a bunch of rock and guitar solos). I still look back at BW2 trailer fondly and occassionally rewatch it, even if the games made me a bit sad. This trailer made everyone love Nate, Rosa, Hugh and Colress that were initially mocked and was neat to see the old characters in their new roles plus important battles from the games.

The ORAS trailer made me felt nothing despite the top tier animation and sound. I agree with this anon that >>35524073 because they seem to have forgotten that people play for the sense of adventure and monster collecting, and in remakes and sequels/third versions people want to see the old with the new. ORAS trailer forgot of the old but then again the games themselves were made for modern audiences and told old audiences to get over themselves too (and no, this isn't about the Frontier. ORAS just made me feel like picking the old games).

TPCi didn't drop the Adventures from the title, they just don't use it in mini volume releases to not mislead people. It's just a collection of "recently" (because it's been over a year for some) released chapters picked directly from magazine releases that haven't been properly edited for a volume release.

XY, ORAS and SM are "mini volumes", they only received a few text fixes but they don't have redrawn art or more pages or chapters as a proper volume release is. The normal release is just "Pokemon Adventures Vol.5X" and we are currently at BW2 arc.

TPCi also gave us Bill Rogers and JCC ruining Eric Stuart's work as Brock/James (even his Hoenn performances blow both those old man egotists shit out of the water in Alola), chain-smoking Ash, dub music everywhere to the point where even fucking 4Kids kept more, still doing dumb edits, shitty 30 second intro themes, etc.

There hasn't been a single thing the incompetent fucks at TPCi have done right with Animation for 12 years now, save for Origins, which was only 4 episodes. Generations was trash, the Anime became trash, and BW2 trailer was a cocktease of what we could get but they're too cheap to produce.

Generations save for a few questionable episodes were really nice animated and they showed a lot of important moments, some that weren't in the games but totally should have (like the story of Ho-Oh or Hilbert's return).
Origins was dreadful. The battle animations were the only nice ones and they weren't really that interesting. The style was an eyesore and everything was so gray and dull, and the only good music was the bike one. I can hardly remember Origins nowadays because it was putting me to sleep.
