I disagree, I actually liked quite a few of the new mons and the geology had some intriguing areas as well, overall pretty fun to explore. That huge graphics leap, the whole customizing your character, one of the elemental birds in the trio you can hunt down and eventually catch was pretty cool, horde battles nice for exp and shiny hunting. A bunch of other stuff i cant remember. X & Y jumpstarted a lot of fun new stuff. Although flawed, it was still fun and gives a lot of room for improvement. I seriously don't see how it gets shit on so hard.
