Can someone explain to me what's up with all the Normal/Flying birds? At this point it's just tradition, but I want to know what the initial logic was, back in Gen I.

Why did they insist making 4 families of bird Normal/Flying and none of them pure Flying? How is Normal-Type even REMOTELY fitting for a bird?
