I wouldn't even call her a truly good villain in vanilla SM, where she's just really decent, but that's still better than the half-assed anti-villain you're going to get in Ultra. Necrozma is the real baddie of the game you're playing, and even that's not very well done.
If you're only in it for Lusamine, I'd drop Ultra now and look up the relevant parts of a Let's Play somewhere. It sounds like you aren't liking Ultra Sun, so going out and buying or even pirating regular Sun or Moon isn't going to be worth it for you.
