Those games are developed over the course of three years with an entire studio working on one each with three in development at any given time. Gamefreak’s problem is that, despite the costs and time needed to develop games increasing, they refuse to adapt and either hire more people or have longer dev cycles. The fact is that the one game a year model just doesn’t work anymore, they need to start doing multiple projects simultaneously if they want to actually produce finished products. I agree with your point that people defending Gamefreak are idiots though.

That's not how Game Freak work anon, they may not do full simultaneous development, but there is overlap between starting the next game planned and finishing the current one in development. I'd even say they're starting to do the first few bits and bobs for the Gen IV remakes at this stage, seeing as they're finishing up work on the current one.

Why? They're one of the few dev studios out there still selling full experiences for a game (bitch all you want about Gen VII, they both were perfectly fine self-contained games). Contrast that with any other western dev studio, who are either actively cutting content to sell later as DLC or purposefully building the games around needing their shitty lootbox-based mechanics. And the shills defending them saying "You don't NEED to pay any more than the game", ignoring the fact that simply giving them the money for the game in the first place is basically saying "I enjoy getting the shaft from your practices" even if you avoid the cancer contained within
Plus it's pissing you off something fierce, which is always a bonus to me.

Pikachu Valley DOESN'T count, it was clearly fucking slapped together by some interns in 2 hours, and Gamefreak used that in a large part of their marketing, when in reality it's hard to stay there for more than 3 minutes without being bored. It's literally as close to nothing as nothing can get while still being something. I'm not going to mention all of that zero sum bullshit every time I mention this game's extremely small benefits because even typing the two words "Pikachu Valley" takes more effort and affords more effort to the concept than the actual developers at Gamefreak.

If you're on /vp/, you know that Pikachu Valley exists. But it is shit, and I am not going to acknowledge its existence. So you can fuck off instead of playing Mr. Referee righting all of the wrongs on 4chan

Game Freak devoloped giga wrecker last year. Usum took them 2 weeks of work and they called it the new release for 2017. The a team worked on pokemon for ns, the c team worked on GW, the b team worked on the incoming dp remakes for NS and usum was devoloped literally by Iwao and Ohmori alone who just put in the assets they already had during the development of SM that they intentionally left out from the first game.
