Pointless mysteries to keep people intrigued but it obviously amounted to nothing, just like Ghost Girl. They didn't carry any of those things over to Alola so it clearly means nothing.

Yeah, this one was very dissapointing. The "one" she was looking for was just the guy who tells you the "creepy" story before Laverre, because he's popular among Hex maniacs, or something like that.

That message was just a reference to the manga City Hunter. The main character in that is a detective/mercenary that you get in touch with by writing your request plus "XYZ" on a certain train station board.

Nobody got it, even the translators, so it looks more ominous and important than it actually is.

The point was that it was still clear why Scorched Slab was put in the game, no matter how small and pointless for gameplay it is. The Chamber of Emptiness doesn't have even being a reference to something as a reason to exist.
