Gamefreak and Nintendo directors only make Pokemon games based on modern fads. The reason they don't do another Pokemon Snap is because they feel like it wouldn't be attractive due to the game having old photography aesthetics. Even though they can easily keep the formula while changing the aesthetic for modern audiences, they still bend to their beliefs on what "kids these days" are into for the moment.

I remember trying to find all the special pictures like Balloon Pikachu, Surfing Pikachu, Thunderbolt Pikachu, Singing Jigglypuffs, Dacing Gravalers, Fighting Magmars.

This stuff was great. Me and my cousin would try and top each other with the best Mew picture all the time too.

I really think a new Pokemon Snap would be pretty amazing. Graphics have come a long way and there are hundreds more Pokemon now. They could easily quadruple the amount of content.

yup. after saving him from Zubat, he ballooned to the ground, you'd need to free Articuno, and as your about to exit the cave level, turn around and you'll be able to peek Articuno flying back at you with Pikachu in tow.
All that shit, and the score for that pic doesn't even beat two Pikachus on a stump using thunderbolt

This such a Nintendo reason for not doing something. It's kind of bullshit because regardless of what real-world photography is like these days, there is obviously a ton of people who would love Pokemon Snap 2. It's not like a camera is a completely foreign object to little kids either.

It would be so simple to modernize it. Remove the on-rails, make the environments explorable, and have the character whip out his smart phone for pictures. Hell, they'd probably put in a "selfie" mode. Sure this would trigger a bunch of 30 year old autists, but it seems like such an obvious way to modernize it. Nintendo is stubborn as fuck.

Pokemon Snap is overhyped, mediocre, and short. Yeah, I play it through every once and a while, but it's not some great classic that deserved better. If you want your Pokemon photography fix, play Gen 7 and seek out all of the photography spots.

You severely underestimate what the N64 was capable of. Pokemon Snap was not pushing the system to its limits with its less than a dozen levels. Ocarina of Time had already been released by that point, it's just stupid to suggest they didn't have enough space to put in more content.

Pokemon Snap feels like a cash grab game. Hell, the biggest selling point of the game was "the first Pokemon game for the N64". It's really short and doesn't have a whole ton of content. They barely even had a third of the Pokemon at the time in the game. But that's just my theory. It's an okay game, makes for an alright couple of hours once a year, but this was released as a $50-$60 game. If such a thing were released as-is nowadays it would have been fucking destroyed by bad press. Should have gone straight to $20, but hey, it's Pokemon, so those stupid kids will get their parents to buy it.
