>>35544781>XY6/10. Has probably the greatest beginning portion due to the sheer amount of choices and the journey of beginning to 1st gym and 1st to 2nd gym and 2nd to 3rd gym. Sadly, everything goes to shit after that with some awful route design, extremely rushed pacing, and a lame villain team. They also introduce inverse battles, but no inverse facility nor silly inverse online option.
>ORASat first I rated it a 5/10 as I was definetely disappointed with the games, but when I replayed through them two more times, I got a better appreciation for the games. They do awesome things such as Dexnav, and greatly improving on Secret Bases, but also does some annoyances such as way more handholdy moments that the original didn't have, still not having any inverse facilitiy, and nothing for the Game Corner except for an "apology sign". As of right now, I'd give them a 7/10. They're the best 3DS games, but that's honestly not saying a whole lot.
>SM5/10. All SM did was take XY problems and amplify them while adding its own fair share of problems such as no non-tedious way to level up to 100 (especially when theres a good reason to get your mons to 100 this time) the awful Festival Plaza, pulling a Johto with their new mons, etc. Totems were an interesting concept which I hope Game Freak will improve on, but most likely Totems (the concept) will be stuck in Alola forever.
>USUM6/10. USUM does improve on SM, but not by a whole lot. Festival Plaza is still awful, there is still tons of moments that make you stop and take in a barely changed story, there's still no non-tedious way to level up to 100, and so on and so on.
I would forgive literally every issue of Gen 7 if the metagame was simply fun to play, but it isn't. The meta is (IMO) the worst it's been in years. It's just so lame and I have to now rely on Smogon possibly estabilishing a PU meta for it to be fun for me, but its still got a ways to go before that happens.
