Alright /VP/ let's take a breather. If the leaks/rumors regarding Pokémon games being Let's Go: Pikachu/Eevee, what are your thoughts? I personally don't think a game like Yellow could do too well among any of the fanbase outside of Genwunners or Pokémon Go players.

I can understand why they do it from a business perspective, but from my personal pespective that leak from Real Leaker didn't blow me away. I stopped playing Go shortly after it released, I have played enough of Kanto and none of the things he mentioned are features that make me want to buy it.

No new starters means it's still Gen 7. Would make sense to remain in Gen 7 a bit longer while also jumping hardware. Plus, we know the last icon still unused for PokeBank and in the games is the little Go symbol.

That said, atm, I'm not sold. I hate Kanto with a passion; it'd have to be turned upside down quite literally for me to give a damn. Lack of new starters also doesn't impress me. There may be new Pokemon or new forms, but that's not enough for me. And emphasis on GO interaction has me turned off as well.

I understand why they'll do it, but I'm not a fan. The names sound as though they're for spin off titles. Feel like Kanto has been overdone too. I don't think a game like Yellow would hold up (especially if some of the things in the "leak" are true) solely because it appeals to a specific demographic.

No, that's one of the ways to define a new gen. New starters, new region, new evil team, new professor, on top of new Pokemon, means new gen.

USUM only had new Pokemon because they were held back from SM so they would have something to market USUM to the general public.

I will be really, really, really disappointed. Especially if it looks like that leaked gameplay image with Lapras and Eevee. I don't imagine the reception will be all that friendly either. I don't want to return to Kanto, because I don't care about Kanto. I doubt the majority of their audience really cares about Kanto either, and to start of a new generation of the series on brand new hardware with a remake back to Kanto with shitty graphics will sit really bad with me. I'm just hoping the rumours are false, but at this point, I'm almost gone.

I've seen lots of people commenting all voer the Internet they don't want to go back to Kanto in any shape or form. And for the first game on a home console being Kanto-related, there will be backlash.

Especially if the region has barely any changes and Go interaction is being included.

I'm not going to hate it if they keep the turned based battling but decide to change the capturing mechanics to something like Pokemon GO. I really hope that's the only similarity between the two, as I couldn't really play Pokemon GO for that long, and I'm someone that has played every game since Red. And I wouldn't mind Kanto again, but if the Lapras leak is real, I'll be upset because that's not really good mapping if you still use a square grid style for graphics.
I'm not going to think much until some official news is released.

Honestly, I am okay with a gen 1 remake a bit. I played rby obviously but I was in my "bored with pokemon" phase when fire red and leaf green came out so i never got it, and when i try to play it now, I get bored.

So if they can make it more refreshing on the switch I'm for it. Plus i didn't play ultra sun/moon so I can use a new pokemon game.

It doesn't help that Kanto has been rather bland for the most part whenever we've seen it. It was the first game setting back in Gen I, was stripped down in Gen II, and FRLG didn't add much other than the Sevii Islands with HGSS having similar issues to its appearance in Gen II.

I don't really understand why they're trying to get the Pokemon GO playing crowd into the console games. If this was on 3DS I could understand since its sort of cheap to get one now (which is probably why Sun and Moon got traction) but to the free to play mobile gamers this is no less than a $360 fee to play more Pokemon. Even though GO is popular its partially because its a f2p phone game. The people who like GO and the people who spend $300 on gaming consoles don't overlap that much

Worst possible thing to happen. Instead of giving us a new detailed region that takes full advantage of the graphical and preformance prowess of the Switch we're just going to get Kanto in HD. I doubt any new areas will be added or any new routes or ways to manuever
