Go's catching mechanics are better because they require some modicum of skill instead of pressing a button and hoping for RNG.

The fact that people think Pokemon's current catching mechanics are somehow so perfect that replacing them is "ruining the franchise" is fucking hilarious.

I have NEVER played pokemon while thinking "oh, it's so boring while trying to catch pokemon. I wish they would make it more challenging to catch this wild fucking ratata that appeared". I don't play these games for the challenge of catching pokemon, I play them to train cool monsters, and fight other people with them. There was NOTHING wrong with the way you catch pokemon...

Plenty of people have. Pressing a button and hoping for RNG isn't fun. These games have too much of this bullshit in general. Hatching an egg and hoping for RNG and running in grass randomly and hoping for RNG aren't fun either.

There 4 tiers of throws. Good, great and excellent, and also critical. As it stands there is currently 2 standard chances and critical. Using a certain kind of ball also increases catching rate. It still relies of rng, yes but not as much as the older approach where it was either a standard catch rate or a critical.

That is what the other types of pokeballs are for retard. If you are having a hard time catching something, then just a net ball, or quick ball, or whatever for the specific pokemon you are trying to get.

It would still be rng based because AFTER you throw the ball in pokemon go, it is still rng based on whether or not you catch the pokemon. See>>35548538
