Should we just accept that we're no longer the main demographic? Games are no longer being made with fun and exciting changes to gameplay at the forefront. It's all about story, nostalgia, gimmicks and the lowest common denominator. This has been a long time coming since XY, but maybe it's time to move on.

except they never did. They pretty much pulled any and all decent console support for Pokemon after that with the only games after PBR being Virtual Console non-battle spin-offs, Wiiware with shit graphics and simplistic (if any) gameplay and two small adventure games with minigames mixed in.
Hell, all the Wii U got was a ridiculously limited Rumble game and a virtual console rerelease.
They never fell for the Wii meme because after (or hell, even arguably) Battle Revolution was low effort shovelware or rereleases.
The only reason they're even developing for the Switch is probably because it's the necessary next big step in the franchise to go HD

Go gave them at least the promise of one other thing they've wanted since ever, which is essentially pokemon in real life. Except making it like Pokemon Go would reduce RNG you sperglord. They can make it so throwing it a certain way makes it more likely, or hitting the Pokemon at a weak point can make it more likely. Or they can make Pokemon harder to catch by making them move around a lot instead of mindlessly lowering their catch rate. It requires actually actively playing the game and rewards skill instead of pressing a button and hoping for a fucking dice roll.

Even if it ends up being that one stops playing new games, it doesn't require leaving Pokémon communities or anything of that sort. There are over 100 existing games.

In all of the places I've interacted with other Pokémon players, a few no longer play the new games but still stick around.

New ones not being a part of your life doesn't mean the old ones you've played are retroactively removed from your memories, you fucking retard. Coming back to here doesn't mean you were shitposting about not bothering with the new shit.

No, they're doing that because this is the current handheld.

The reason main series stayed away was because they weren't portable. To Game Freak (and most players) it being portable was an unimpeachable requirement for the series.

They've said they want them to be portable many times over the years win response to console questions.

Game Freak are almost certainly why the Switch is a so-called hybrid.

As far as monster collecting RPGs go, I've pretty much stopped with Pokemon and have found I enjoy SMT and YKW far more. At least Atlus and Level-5 put actual effort into games and care about their fans.
