>oh look another “this can’t be real” type of thread
But seriously, how is anyone actually excited about this?
Assuming that the game is fully 3D is that actually a reason to be excited that Kanto would be in 3D? Who plays Pokémon for graphics? I play for the fun of it, the graphics are pretty irrelevant to how the game plays and it’s content. “Oh Oak is in 3D! Lavender town too!” Who cares? It’s just the same town we’ve been to before but with a new coat of paint. Big whoop.
>“Yay we get to use the ‘original’ 150 Pokemon!”
Again, who cares? We’ve been able to catch and train the same Kanto Pokémon for 20 years! We’ve had acces to them all every single generation since RBY! Why do people think it’s cool to use them again? And statistically speaking most kanto mons just plain suck and aren’t much fun to use.
>“Well you don’t know! There might be an updated dex with prevos and cross gems evos available in game!”
Whoop de doo! Using the same Pokémon we’ve had access to for generations! Fuck off, no one gives a shit if you can use a Cleffa or Wynaut in the early game or if you can evolve your Gligar in Gliscor around gym 5. So sue me if I want NEW Pokémon that I’ve never seen or used before in a NEW Pokémon game.
Kanto has been available in RBY, GSC, FRLG, HGSS and the virtual concole RBY and GSC releases. Kanto has had its day. So don’t tell me “well new players might not have had a chance to play through Kanto before!” The games have always been there, the fans who haven’t played it just lack the initiative to go out and find them.
If this Kanto retread turns out to be true I actually kind of hope the game flops so GF actually tries to incorporate completely new Pokémon, stories and characters in their future games and less call backs to the past.
I’m not saying I want the franchise to fail but I want GF and Pokémon to be hit in their wallet so they can listen for a change.
