Its like the other 6 regions (7 if you count the gamecube games) don't even exist to GameFreak, like every region is immediately forgotten about and tossed aside come the next generation EXCEPT Kanto.
The entire theme of the Switch is newness, innovation and bucking old trends. Mario and Zelda did it with Odyssey and BOTW, and those are some of the best reviewed games in their respective series, and this lack of innovation and stubborness to do something completely new with your franchise is what led Star Allies to be so mediocre.
