if they added Gorochu it would be the only pokemon that evolves AFTER having already evolved with an evolution stone and it would be the only pokemon with 4 evolution stages... I think both of those things combined make it too unlikely

If they were to make Gorochu a reality I feel like they'd simply make it a split evolution to Pikachu instead of evolving from Raichu. Unless they retcon Pichu out of existence.

I think its possible that in order to make Pikachu and Eevee more acceptable as counterparts, they'll give Pika some alternate evolutions - gorochu would be a prime candidate.

That would make Raichu absolutely forgotten and thrown into the trash even more than it is no. It would be obsolete and no reason to get Raichu unless they give Raichu a new ability to make it compete.

Give Kanto and Alolan Raichu (and any new Raichu variants) a huge bst buff. Make their bst comparable to the eeveelutions since they'll be competing starting lines now. That would help keep anyone from being forgotten since they'd be little powerhouses thanks to the buff and any Raichu you want to train would be worthwhile.

I don't think it will be Electric-type if it is a branch Pikachu evolution since all branched evolutions change type to some degree. It may be dual-type. Electric/Dark is probably the safest bet since fangs and horns do speak evil, but it could also be Electric/Fighting. I wouldn't mind either way since they're both unique type combinations.

But that's assuming we do get Gorochu. 99% we probably won't, and neither Pikachu nor Eevee can evolve.
