I would totally love that. Kanto might be my least favorite generation (Except Kalos) but I'm so in favor of a franchise reboot. Who knows, it might end up to them "rebooting" other games down the line, like making a proper follow up to Gold and Silver more in line with the spirit of the original games.
I love Pokemon, almost all the games, but I think most of us can agree that it's been losing its charm recently. What if we got a chance to fix what was broken right from the start?

I'd be fine with new Kanto mons AND new regional variants of other Pokemon. If we're going through Kanto again, many of the Elite Four trainers specialize in types that are very rare in Gen I. For example, the only Ghost-type Pokemon in Gen I were Gengar (aside from Alolan Marowak), so Agatha used non-Poison Pokemon.

I do feel like trying to recapture or revise what has already been done is doomed to failure. Whatever mistakes there are, they've already been made. While it'd be neat to see them try and expand upon the region pokedexes in a way that would please the fans of those regions, it feels like it has just as much of a chance of backfiring.

They need to stop worrying about pandering to nostalgia, and focus more on making the game so appealing that even genwunners will be able to look past the existence of later pokemon.

My only anxiousness about Gorochu is that there have been SO MANY fan designs, many of which are good, that inevitably, whatever we get is going to be met with unusually harsh criticism since many people will prefer whatever fan design they liked best.
Also, do we think they're going to go for a fourth evolution, or just a split off at Pikachu into Raichu?

I find it hilarious that genwunners praise the designs so much when GF themselves have said that they dislike a lot of the design choices they made in gen 1, from things being same-y to being to boring, but they had to work with the system limitation. Also that a lot of designs that went into future games that were loved by GF had to be taken out simply because they couldn't be done properly with the system.

Split Evo would make the most sense. Some sort of Dark/Electric Raichu.

I don't know if they'll be able to pull it off though. They'll have to do their best to carefully mimic the old style, and even then you'll probably get people who say >>35572567 anyway.

It'd be very hard to retcon in nostalgia. I think the only way you could do it is if you had a big push alongside it to weave them into a lot of classic stuff. Re-release the basic TCG packs with new cards in the old style, old ken sugimori artwork of all of them. Sprites of them throughout the generations. Maybe even draw an episode of the anime in the old style with Gary beating up one of those gym leaders we never saw who has some of them. Go all in with making it a 'what could have been' thing.

At least Game Freak used the other two: Primeape and Poliwrath for Chuck. But then again they reused them again for Hala, which makes me hope that they do have new Fighting-types or Kantonian forms that are Fighting-type. (For example, Kantonian Crabominable that is Fighting/Rock and evolves in Victory Road.)

Pikachu should have numerous split evolutions to make it more equal to Eevee. Not exactly the same number, mind you, but two or three would be fine. Have a quartet of pure Electric (Raichu), Electric/Psychic (Alolan Raichu), Electric/Fighting (Gorochu?), and Electric/Dark (Gorochu or somebody else).

I think having 3 (Raichu, Alola, Goro), along with being able to get a Light ball would suffice. Perhaps also add in a Surfing and Balloon-flight form for Pikachu, for Water/Electric and Electric/Flying with a stat boost respectively? That'd be a solid 6 options total.

Currently we are at 807 Pokemon, we need 193 new Pokemon to reach 1000. 150 dedicated new Pokemon and 43 others being new evolutions for older Pokemon, and this is modern Game Freak, make Mega Evolutions and Z Moves. The idea that makes 1001 Pokemon is in fact Missingno becoming a legendary, maybe even making that part of the story

I'd be really interested to see if they could make new mons that actually fit with the original art direction for the series. That would actually require a detailed process of lining up with Kanto but making sure they appealed to a modern audience of kids. I don't think that'd be the case though. Just sounds like a lot more work and I'm sure the selection and design approval process is already hellish.

I doubt they could emulate the original style. Everything is so goofy and cartoony now that any new pokemon would look like a pikachu clone.

Yeah that's why it never saw the light of day and was redesigned into Raikou. Most Gen 2 pokemon are just denied gen 1 pokemon that got slightly redesigned.

Kanto forms of other gens would be interesting.
But i will be still satified if they add totally new pokemons(as i prefer).
If is a "x years ahead" Kanto maybe they have discovered new species or imported from other countries like Yungoos(for example also whole new lines of Fossils).
Also very curious about eventual old scrapped pokemons making in.
If it's an "alternative Kanto"(being a reboot) the new pokemons does'nt need an actual explanation though so is still ok, even better.

Armored Mewtwo should be an alt form or a Type: Null pre evo that can stand alone and is incredibly strong with eviolite, maybe incompatible for game break’s sake. They recapture Mewtwo, can finally wield it. At least a boss fight please.

Yeah.... I made them right around the time when every kid and their mom had a GeoCities website dedicated to late 90s myths. Complete with awful tiling and bad font contrast. A friend shared some of the more creative stories with me, most of them had low quality sprites attached and.... I wanted to do what they were doing, but better.

Someone responded to this that wasn't me.... I made them a few years ago because I'd been interested in Pokegods for a long time, and had fallen for a lot of the stupid codes and techniques to get them. These were just my interpretations, and were also done to practice pixel art. I still have a few other Pokegod sprites on my old deviant art account.

No, 15 years of games in the same direction does not allow for the same direction to remain "new and exciting", just from a fucking semantic point of view. They changed direction and it sort of worked for gen 5. The real issue is they stopped giving a shit after gen 5.
