Don't you guys think it's really strange that GameFreak, the company who for 20+ years have been extremely careful about beta designs and information about non-released concepts for Pokémon, are suddenly allowing people to talk openly about "Gorochu", and allow the Satoshi Tajiri biography to have not just information, but images of the old, unused designs?

Previously interviews with ex employees and designs in GameFreak very, very rarely had any information hinting at non-used designs and scrapped concepts. They openly said they kept these underwraps to make sure they could call back on them if need be. All the books focusing on this history of Game Freak, the history of Pokémon - they at most show the beta designs of preexisting Pokémon, like Poliwhirl, Dragonair, Gastly, Raikou.

So why now?

Why now are GameFreak allowing these images and information to be out in the wider public? I don't know if I believe Let's Go! Pikachu & Let's Go! Eevee are real leaks or a very convincing, coincidental fake. If they’re real, I don’t know if this is connected or not. It’s just weird, that all of a sudden, they’re OK with more beta designs and information being available to the public.

Could it mean if we do get some sort of Kanto-esc remake, we will see a reimagining of some of the Beta Pokémon? I don’t think so, but I would love it if we did.
