This is a game that came out in 2006. I refuse to believe that they'll actually manage to make a game that looks worse than this.

PBR still had recycled Stadium models for Gen 1 and 2 Pokemon

It was so off-putting in Colosseum, GoD, and PBR seeing the Gen 1 and 2 Pokemon's models next to the Gen 3 and 4 Pokemon due to how shit the former looked compared to the latter.

This, the Genius Sonority that exists today is just a shell of what it once was, Game Freak took most of their staff (most notably James Turner)

It's Gamefreak. They don't have to.
Why re-imagine Kanto when you can just 1:1 copy the tiles with your premade 3D assets? People will buy it anyway.

You better believe it. Battle Revolution was made by the same team who did Colosseum/XD, which currently works on mobile spinoffs like Shuffle.

I don't know, I think what I liked the most about the gc and wii games was the scale. Every mainline game feels so cramped, I at least wanna feel like towns are bigger than a handful of houses.

Stop creating a false equivalency in your mind. If all they had to concern themselves with were the battle arenas, the Pokemon models, and the move effects then yes, the games would look amazing. Just look at Pokken. That's only one small part of a much more complex array of mechanics.
