>>35578544ORAS got me back into Pokemon, at least the games, after skipping gens 4 and 5. I was at university, so there were plenty of people to play with and learn from. I learned team comp, optimal iv breeding and efficient ev training and challenged one of my neighbours who was my main mentor and totally into the champ-of-the-dorm character. It was a fairly even battle down to our last Pokemon, our aces: My Mega Swampert vs his shiny Mega Metagross. He knew it was ogre, a ground type vs a steel but was prepared.
Rain was still up, 4 turns left. We both mega and he expects earthquake so mag rises. Bam, he gets hit with a PuP. Rain boosted +1 waterfall, flinch. Waterfall, agility. Zenbut crit, waterfall and he's low enough to potentially die next turn. Zenbut missed, waterfall crit gg. He hands me a ribbon and says: "excellent work padawan. If you want the 3d printed pin and statue to be a true champ killer, you have rematch me after beating my E4" I ended up losing to his third e4 member, a Dark type expert.
Fastforward a year and I decide to buy X. Muah, bellisimo. Comfy music, great region, excellent pokemon, Barbie's dress up. I'm just like wow, I love this version almost as much as AS and Hoenn and I play through again and again. I start wanting to learn French and use Kalos to help teach me because the language is simple enough.
SuMo leak season starts and I'm like, maybe, ok, but I wait till release and I am stunned by how awful they are and don't buy it. USuMo is announced and I wait and see to if improvements are made. They aren't, things are worse and now Go Evee is bottom of the barrel.
tl;dr I skipped 4 and 5. 6 got me back in and is my favourite with 3. 7 started bad and got worse. 8, is well, the end and I think I'm done
