The anime barely advertises the remakes outside a few eps, just look at how FRLG, HGSS, and ORAS were handled. And if you argue these are more important this time, it probably won't be. If Ash does go back to Kanto he'll likely have new characters with him, the games are rumored to have a new male and female lead and you don't even play as Red.
Either way don't expect a Misty return to the cast, they wouldn't bother to bring her back for less than a year just to get rid of her again when Gen 8 starts.
