Memes aside, this is likely due to a large amount of Gen4's dex being third-stage crossgen evos without including the prevos, so you get things like PorygonZ and Dusknoir bumping the number up without Porygon and Duskull to balance it out.

Gen 2's babies get counterbalanced by its own evolutions to pre-existing pokemon, likes Blissey, Crobat, Bellossom, Hitmontop, Slowing, Steelix, etc.

Gen 3 added some new pre-evolutions without getting all those new evolutions to counter it.

Gen 3 has a lot of low BST single-stage shitmons. Minun, Plusle, Spinda, Castform... you get the picture. It also has shit like Breloom which is good despite having a low BST.

Doesn't surprise me. Hoenn has a whole 8 or so pokemon total with a bst over 500 while still having 100+ pokemon to go. And then it has more than its fair share of single stage miniscule bst shits like luvdisc and mawile.

It's unconfirmed whether they are or not. I think they are both Ultra Beasts and Legendaries at the same time. Maybe they used to be Ultra Beasts but after having stayed in Alola for so long, they lost their Ultra Wormhole auras and have basically become normal Pokemon.

I made this infograph to compile all the arguments in favor for/against them being Ultra Beasts. I consider it a WIP until we finish getting Necrozma, its forms, and the USUM UBs implemented in the TCG, Shuffle, and Duel. Also Necrozma episodes in the anime I guess.

I have a feeling Gen IV's is a result of so much of the dex being evolutions for older mons.

It is. Shred all of those evolutions and the BST average drops down somewhere around ~25-30 points depending on if you keep the crossgen babies.
