It makes the games so fucking fresh, and sometimes actually challenging. There's a reason why OP was having a hard time, because he's new. HE DOESN'T KNOW. and that's Pokemon's greatest weakness. Once you have the knowledge of a vet, the games because piss easy and boring. That all changes with a randomized run. Suddenly you're a total noob and have to figure out if that ground/dragon jigglypuff with top notch defense if worth it in the long run because it only has fighting moves. There's so much weirdness, and the best part is, you don't have to go all out. You can just randomize Pokemon locations and keep everything else the same, assuming you just want a comfy run with a different team.
I sound like a huckster, buy yeah. I had a blast playing on random. I kind of wish this was a real thing Gamefreak did. Like a random post game ...
