>>35620259Player's default name in RBY is Red, because we see it when we fight him in GSC. It's also what you get if you enter an empty name in Red (but not Blue or Yellow).
Rival's default name in RBY is Blue, because we see it when we fight him in GSC. It's also what you get if you enter an empty name in Red and Yellow (but not Blue).
Rival's default name in GSC is Silver. Why? It's not hardcoded in a sequel like Red and Blue are. But if we continue to use the name the game gives you when you enter a blank name, you get Silver (in Gold and Crystal) and Gold (in Silver). Majority wins, so we call him Silver.
Male player in GSC? Enter a blank name, you get Gold (in Gold), Silver (in Silver) or Chris (in Crystal). Obviously can't be Silver, since that's taken. So we go with Gold, because we use the rival name from Gold already and because in RBY we use the player name from Red, not Yellow.
Female player character? Only appears in one game, and when you enter a blank name you get Kris.
So Red, Blue, Gold, Silver, and Kris. In this timeline, anyway.
