Blue is a more enhanced version of original Red/Green. I think they used it to make the western versions.

I played it again and again throughout my childhood because I only got my older brother's hand me down games. I played each version at least 3 times probably, invluding playing them as an adult. Funny that I played them so many times but never beat a gen 1 game.

however, ive played through frlg countless times. easily one of my most replayed games.and if you count the johto games ive probably been to kanto like 30-40 times

I never really stopped playing gen 1 for longer than a few months, then I'd end up going back in for a fresh run. tried speedrunning it a year ago, but fell out of practice pretty early to focus on other crap. my best time was a 2:45 so I wasn't really anything special regardless lol

Also, forgot to mention, it would've been more but only Crystal's save battery was worth a damn, lasting until early 2014. The rest of both my and my brother's Gen 1 and 2 games died by 2005 and I didn't bother to look up if you could even easily change save batteries until mid-2013 (and then only got around to changing it in my Gold and immediately playing it).

I've done all of that! if it's a standard run I usually just use my favorite crew of lackies (raticate, mr. mime and jolteon) to roll through shit with. my last run I maxed the dex out to 151 (trainer fly glitch and old man glitch were used a bit) in about 15 hours, give or take for afk. sometimes I'll go through and collect every item, tm etc and sometimes I'll try to see how few items I can use. there was also one run I did where I bought literally nothing except some water for the toll road. I used the 5 prof oak gives if you shit on gary with just your starter at victory road and formed a team with 5 rattatas.

Japan wouldn't make Blue version if Red/Green weren't a broken mess. Heck it wasn't even a retail game for the public, as it was a special version given by a magazine.
