>>35605653True. We've had instances of Pokemon sharing similar characters that end up not being related, such as Raichu and Raikou. But many times when Pokemon do share characters they end up being related. The first two characters (Noko) were used for Nokocchi, which is why I brought it up.
>>35609087Just to make it clear. The "assuming it is real" part is not meant to be taken at face value, but rather a condition. What I am saying here is: These are probably fake, but fuck it, I'll assume these are real and try to decipher meaning out of them. I should have been a bit more clear but I was tired when I wrote that part.
>>35609273We've had instances of Pokemon being inspired by cultures/countries different from the region they are from.
Fletchling is based on a Japanese Robin. Pancham is based on a Chinese panda. They both originated in France. Xerneas, Yveltal, and Zygarde are inspired by Nordic legend iirc, not French.
Groudon, Kyogre, and Rayquaza are inspired by Jewish monsters (Behemoth, Leviathan, and Ziz, respectively), not by anything related to Japanese culture.
There is a precedent for Pokemon being inspired by one culture and then appearing in a region based on another.
It doesn't matter because these names are most likely fake. By now there should have been some source. No source, it's fake.
If I somehow got people excited by a potential Dunsparce evolution, I apologize for that. I wanted to add some discussion to the thread on what the names could mean. I didn't intend to make people believe the names were real if they aren't.
