anyone that genuinely dislikes Diamond and Pearl is an impatient little brat that wasn't alive when it came out.

I'm sure the majority of us that were more than just a thought when Diamond and Pearl came out were absolutely fucking awestruck when it was released, because it was the first Pokemon game that actually felt like it was progressing the series.

True, I was awestruck when it was released. I was extremely excited. It was cool for it's time. Fantastic music for the most part, and the mons are just God tier. Gen 4 will always be my favorite, Pokémon wise. I don't hate it, but I don't love it either. It still has it's downs like being extremely slow, towns are very boring and basic, you literally have to go back and fourth throughout the entire game which very much annoyed me. I think this game had a lot of wasted potential, but I still had a good time playing it. I think it's right in the middle of my "favorite Pokémon mainline game" list.

as someone who grew up with gen 4 I can say this.
diamond and pearl were pretty mediocre had alot of design problems and just had a terrible selection of pokemon making infernape the only viable choice if your team required a fire type.
now platinum on the other hand was pretty good. though it still carried a few of the DP problems so it never goes beyond good for that reason.
I respect it greatly as a third version because it added alot more than the scam that was USUM

Haha, what the fuck are you talking about? Gen 4 is the filler gen. The one that plays it safest and brings the least new to the table, but has no significant shortcomings either.

I loved it when it first released, I probably replayed around 20 times within a year., but then I came back to it a couple of years ago and the battles were too slow for me to tolerate so I quit within 3 hours.

D/P were slow playing shit even with stuff like turning off battle animations and showed a bunch of teething problems Plat only fixed a few of the slow downs and and HG/SS mostly reused the plat code.

that said gen 4 had some pretty boss music and jubilife city remains my fav city BGM out of the series.
