>>35612249How far are you? I don't think there was any point in SM where I thought the game was good, but there's a gradient from okay to horrible as the game progresses.
It's something like
Island 2 > Island 1 > Island 3 >>>>> Island 4
The longer the game goes on, with the exception of Island 2 which opens up slightly, the game gets more and more linear, story-focused, and Lillie-focused. If you're a waifufag that might sound good to you but I hate Lillie with a passion due to how much she's shoved down your throat. Team Skull are the only recurring characters I didn't grow to hate as the game progressed. Gladion was pretty good for a while due to him being the first truly abrasive rival since Silver (even copying half of Silver's team) but when he got fully entangled in the "muh family" plot with Lillie and Lusamine I stopped liking him as well. The 'mon distribution is bad with the small amount of new Pokémon being rare, having horrible evolution requirements (several of which can't evolve until the tail end of the game), or just not being available until the fourth island where the game has already nosedived into trash. SM is my least favorite game despite it being a marked improvement over Gen 6 is quite a few ways, because of how linear it is and how much time is dedicated to pushing Lillie on you. I haven't even bothered with USUM but I've been told by people similarly disappointed in SM that it doesn't fix any of the real problems with the game and removes the coolest boss fight SM had.
