I can 100% confirm this

>We will hear news sometime this year

Thing is, I wonder if we will get one game. I mean I know it is beyond crazy, but with the switch game priced as they are until they can justify it otherwise- especially after USUM- wouldn't it make more sense for them to do just one game a year for 60 with DLC to kick it up to 80? (I know they never said they do paid DLC, but Mario did it and it worked, Zelda did it and it worked, if Pokemon did it and knew how to market it and did it right. They could say knock out the Sevii Islands for the game while giving people the chance to pay just 20 to play "catch up" ie going through the Sevii Islands if they never had, find pokemon they never caught (given some pokemon are still bank exclusive and probably will be at that point), beat the original Elite 4 if they've all been replaced or most of them etc.

Cause aside from MAYBE getting people to buy both, I feel like one game gets favored over the other leading to a shit ton of excess merchandise over time ie unsold Ys, OR, Moons, Ultra Moons, etc. If they have just one game a year for now, and have it the main legendary of the region so to speak, they wouldn't have to try marketing so hard for games they'll still probably have hundreds, thousands, millions unsold over the years. Just my opinion.

-LGP/LGE are New 3DS spin-off/reboot games planned for the 20th anniversary of Pokémon Yellow.

-The game will only feature 251 Pokémon and two regions.

-Great integration with Pokémon GO, you will be able to TRADE and BATTLE with your PoGO team through LGP/LGE. Also you can transfer some of your Pokémon from PoGO to LGP/LGE and viceversa.

-The game is planned as a real Pokémon adventure, you can go wherever from the start, and take the challenges in the order you want them / find them.

-Day-night cycle comes back from previous games, also random weather events.

-Alolan versions can only be obtained through previous games or PoGO.

Don't worry, there is another Pokémon game planned for the Nintendo Switch coming later next year.
