There's no real equivalent in Pokemon to Griffith. AZ is close because he was a leader that turned against his people when things didn't go his way, and when given the option to sacrifice and kill his followers to make his life better, he took it. He ended up dethroned and exiled instead of becoming a dark god, but the intent is very much the same. He did end up getting a redemption, but he suffered immensely for it.
