It's not like it was mandatory or anything. If anything, it was a good way to encourage people to catch everything on a route by marking their progress. What's more, it's way better than breeding for an actual playthrough, since you can try and catch something with a rare move instead of having to spend the time raising a new one.

The dexnav was the first feature that actually made you feel like a pokemon trainer who's goal is to catch them all and get the data added to the pokedex. It's a complete shame that gamefreak decided not to make this a permanent feature.

They introduced SOS battles because Alola was a region that valued "community" and shit like that. Pokemon helped humans, humans helped Pokemon, and Pokemon helped Pokemon. SOS battles fit with the theme, so hopefully that isn't the case next gen.

I just remembered that ORAS ACTUALLY HAD separate Pokemon Center and Poke Mart

What the fuck. Why did they do that. Why did they choose to put MORE effort into that when they could have actually SAVED TIME just having the combined mart and center. Why did they change this after it was established back in Black and White. Why did they choose to do something that defies the point of a remake.

Fuck. Now we ARE gonna get HMs in DP remakes. Shit. That was one of the worst things about DP.

I think the reasoning is a bit off. Rather than keeping a neat feature, they decided to just throw hundreds of different mons in the regional pokedex, regardless of how well they might fit in the tropical setting. If they'd restricted themselves, newer pokemon would have been able to be more common and not as crowded out by old species, and you could still have them catchable later once you get the national dex like in ORAS.

First time around, sure i had a lot of fun with it. Missed a shiny swablu though because of an unlucky crit.
But on my replay my autism got the best of me and i spent weeks trying to get a 3IV prankster sableye with recover. Caves are a bitch with dexnav.

I think they mean't multis. I know for myself that having to see 4 trainers activate mega evolution, for 4 pokemon, in any kind of weather made the game go at a snail's pace
