You don't grind in this game. It's kind of the point of having shared exp among all your connected pokemon.

The wild pokemon are much higher levels than yours after leaving the village. You'll need to use items that will help slow them down. I'm pretty sure there was even a tutorial about them in one the starting dungeons.

Utilize the looplets and emeras. Seriously, those things will absolutely make or break your luck in later dungeons. Don't be afraid to use the wands either.

Man, now I want to replay it. I'd still be playing it but once you recruit Arceus, there's nothing left to do. At least in previous PMD games, the missions were randomized and there was always something to work towards

I've played all the Mystery Dungeon games and I love grinding in them. Except for Super. For some reason the game is a struggle to go through gameplay wise.

Yeah, enemies barely going over 80 exp towards the endgame really tired out grinding. Luckily stat boosters are painfully easy to get, even if you should hold off on using them until you get the water looplet.

Nigga just use items. The game gives you a billion wands that stack to 40 and each swing is basically a free kill. If you're completely retarded, you can just get a ton of reviver seeds and run into shit. They're cheap at the shop and you can trade a gold bar for 5 reviver seeds.

Whoever holds it gains pierce status. That means any item they throw, like spikes and vitamins, will be thrown in a straight line, piercing through every pokemon in the line on that floor.

You can use the eater looplet to toss vitamins to teammates while you're in hallways. If they land, they both get stat boosts. It's better to use them first on your starter and partner, as everyone else has a chance to have a closed sign on the selection screen.

Blast seeds, wands and orbs and are your best friend. You should spend extra time on floors picking up Emeras and other items instead of trying to powerhouse through floors. This game forces you to become accustomed and tactile with items than any other game in the franchise, as it literally throws a level 50 Salamence at you from the beginning.

yeah, that makes sense, except things like floor range attacks just decimate my team before I even see the enemy, and I have to stock up on a shit ton of apples and oran berries, and by the time I actually make it to the boss, I have no revives left. It's incredibly frustrating.

I'm at entei, and the plot keeps me from grinding, so I'm frustrated as shit, and I'm thinking of just starting over, but I don't actually want to. I just want to grind.

Super has a different leveling curse, i found myself having trouble in the end-games dungeon, especially since most mons were countering my Charmander, and i had Froakie as my partner. I still made it through the whole thing and post-game by managing nicely my items but holy fuck the level spike is very evident

The new recruitment system must have fucked them up and they skipped the most fundamental part, but i liked the extra challenge otherwise. I overly prefers Red/Blue's recruiting system and i still need to fully finish Super

Gates to Infinity has the best recruiting system, actually. It's like Explorers, except you can't recruit evolved Pokémon unless you have type specific or Pokémon specific items to give them. Now, if only you actually had to find those items instead of buying them then it would be perfect.

Super is definitely the hardest in the series. I dropped it a while back, though it was more because I got bored having to do tons of little missions (more than usual) in order to make the story progress. Super is hard, slow, and long.

I started replaying PMD Sky with Munchlax and Riolu, but I can't get over how ugly their sprites are.

Who should I restart as? I usually play as Cyndaquil so probably not him and preferably something that doesn't have an ugly ass sprite once it evolves.

Super Mystery Dungeon bumped up the difficulty. Last MD I played beforehand was Red Rescue Team. Item management is more important because you cant steamroll every dungeon with your normal attack like you could in older games, so you have to be more cognizant of your HP and hunt around for items that will help you not die.

Also use that connection web shit. They give you a Level 50 Salamence pretty early on that you can only use so often but it's worth it. If you're having trouble with a story dungeon then do the optional ones to get more allies

Exactly. In earlier entries you really only needed to bring food, and maybe some graveller rocks or ethers, into a dungeon. Now you need wands, healing items, food items, and you need to be cognizant of emeras and shit. back in the day you could just tap a to smash most pokemon; rarely would you need to use one of your moves
