Black is visually very appealing but also fairly generic. He's much better to look at that FRLG/HGSS Red but to be fair he just as easily could have been Red's redesign at some point in development because he is generic.
Calem has the same issue and so does Sun. Nate and Diamond might look like shit but they stand out a bit more Diamond more so. Gold was a boring retake on Red but different enough compared to Black and Calem even if I like the former more than Gold. Brandon might be plain odd and the kid from Ultra looks like a douche but they are probably the most standout besides Diamond if talking males.
