Ever since RBY, the MC has a home console in their room. This console is the one that coexists with the handheld at that time, and it never gets mainline games, just spin-offs. Switch already appeared in USUM and that removes any chance of it getting mainline games. You're getting a spin-off developed by Game Freak, mots likely something related to Pokémon Go. Gen 8 will be on the 3DS successor which will probaby be announced in 2019.
