>>35678479It's an easy take on the roguelike genre. Can still be kind of hard at times for inexperienced players. Which makes sense, considering the game is meant for children. It makes for a nice introduction to the genre. The heavier JRPG influences are what makes it stand out the most, which suits the easier gameplay well, but it doesn't disregard its root, considering it still provides level reset dungeons later on (which are good, at least in the DS games).
It has a lot of monsters you can play as. Their unique characteristics shine in the level reset dungeons (where movesets, stat growths and abilities matter) and when using Pokémon specific items in Sky.
IQ is fun, and so are Emeras. Items in general are pretty good. Same goes for item management, even though that tends to be rare in PMD.
Newer games (Sky, GtI, Super) provide polished controls, menus and mechanics. I'm sure I could say some more things, but I think I've said enough.
