My favorite is one of the most hated ones.

When I mention my favorite, a bunch of people insults me for my tastes.
If a Pokémon gets retcon, sure my favorite will be among the first on being dropped. This day, I will drop the games with it, together.

I guess I stop playing at then. I highly doubt they'd retcon Kabutops though, but if they did I still like a lot of others. I'd stop not because it's gone, but because they set the precedent of others being able to get retconned in the future.

desu, i doubt it'll matter if any pokemon gets retconned. Cuz if you think about it, in the upcoming titles, it could just be a new game with a new experience that could possibly make up for the lack of, like, 600 pokemon (since normies and children will probably known like 20 pokemon top) in a possible reboot with a awesome 10/10 experience

The frustrating thing is, I'm not sure it would matter to most.

They've removed dozens of pieces of content over the years and you know someone loved all of them (and in some cases, basically everyone loved them) and yet their earnings just keep going up still.

It's like most don't realize or, for some reason, care that they may have to wait over a decade for a remake of the same game to get their beloved features back. Not that you should even be thinking that as of OR/AS.

I wouldn't really mind, honestly. It lacks presence in competitive, the fanbase, and the series lore, and sometimes I genuinely feel like the only person who has it as their favorite. Or really even seems to care about it. I'd be peeved, sure, but there are enough others that I like that I'd be fine.

Yeah I'd quit, but not just because my favorite would be gone for good, but because what this kind of decision would be appealing to. Yes you heard right, there are other fans out there that actually believe retconning the current roster would be a great idea. There are shitheads on another forum board I'm frequenting that are literally proposing this.
Why is Pokemon the only franchise where there's a legit argument that more variety is a bad thing?

variety is Pokemon's strongest suit, and handpicking which ones stay and which ones go is a 1 way ticket to permanent-fanbase-backlash town
