I'm pretty sure it was just meant as a way to express their behaviors and make them more relatable/understandable, as a sort of counteraction to their alien appearances and general lack of faces. For example, Kartana's resemblance to Tapu Koko (from the general like the same four colors to the specific like having the same pattern of white triangles with black outlines on yellow) wasn't meant to imply that Kartana and Tapu Koko were the same being
nor that Tapu Koko thought that Kartana was beautiful and was dressing up as it, but to draw attention to their similarities as revered guardians in Ultra Forest and Alola, both with a liking for intense battles and a strong sense of honor.
Similarly, Pheromosa and Lusamine as beautiful control freaks who think everything outside of Ultra Space is unclean ("if you're not beautiful enough for my world, I don't NEED you!"), Hala leading Melemele Island and Guzzlord being from Hau'oli City and both having their signature sumo stomp (as seen in Hala's battle animation and Guzzlord's reference art), et cetera.
Incidentally, Gladion is definitely not supposed to resemble Buzzwole. I see a strong resemblance in Gladion to basic Necrozma's form (shoulder spikes, clutching arms in pain, being an edgelord, et cetera) if anything. But I haven't a clue if anyone is meant to resemble Buzzwole - I guess it would rely on it the least of the Beasts with how clear its personality is on its own.
I love that Lusamine chose to dress both of her children as parasites - of all of the Beasts, it's Nihilego and Necrozma. It says a lot about how she regards them.
