Better than most fake eeveelution, but still a lot that needs polishing. Lots of big inconsistencies between the different drawings of it. Like the front three upwards tufts are totally different in the bug pic and the bottom pic.

It's a new "meta-type". This one is the Rainbow type.

Meta-types will be determined by external factors and change into an actual type during battle. Rainbow works like Protean.

(Can you guess which are the other 2 pokemon that will get retconned to this type?)

Rainbow works exactly like Protean, but that's not a rule for every meta-type.

For instance, one of the meta-types becomes Water or Flying depending on the battle field alone (not related to weather, it is Water when the battle happens on water and Flying otherwise).

its not only too clean, dome of the kanji just seem odd, you have to write a kanji in a certain stroke order, and you can see some of them just look fake because you can see its the wrong stroke order. i used to live in tokyo for a year and i know they really care about this stuff, and this should be a official pokemon artwork?

Perhaps the difference is not the quality but the consistency. I can write pretty well (n1, work in a jap company etc) but my characters are not as regular as the natives'

It's Normal only at the start of the battle. Its status screen will only display "Rainbow", though.

I'm not OP, and I can't read japanese, I can only confirm the picture is real because I saw Evereon in-game and is Rainbow (as the NPCs also love to remind you, it's impossible not to notice).

Not exactly. Burmy retains its type outside of battle. Meta-types are sort of a "wild card" type, they have specific names outside of battle and represent a group of types.

Then, when battle starts, one of the types is selected. Each meta-type follows its own rule to decide which type it becomes. "Diving" follows the battle field, but it's the only one I saw to work like that.

The tcg decided to resurrect the old Rainbow Energy symbol out of nowhere. It's being represented by the Colorless symbol since gen 4.

We also got rainbow rares.

I'd love to see the first Rainbow type pokemon card finally released.
