Platinum updated almost every location in Sinnoh. Snow in Twinleaf Town, Shadows in Eterna Forest, Blue Cave tiles in Mt. Coronet, Revamped Amity Square, Almost every house getting an update etc. Definitely far more than USUM.

Not sure which it is. USUM is not a sequel in any way, shape, or form. You do realize sequels are continuations of story, brainlet? USUM starts over from the beginning which a few minor alterations.

My absolute favorite part about this example is that most of Platinum's city updates were literally JUST texture changes - Jubilife replaced the GTS with the Global Terminal, but otherwise, the main difference is the ground and path tiles.
I'm not saying this "doesn't count" or something - I'm saying it's THAT much easier to make a Platinum-tier area redesign and make the region look noticeably different with the bare minimum of work, and they still didn't bother trying to make anything past Melemele even VISUALLY different.
