Already do. I also play Yo-Kai Watch. Gonna expand my repertoire to Digimon and Dragon Quest too when I get the money and time. So far these games have gameplay immensely superior to Pokemon from what I've researched. Wish I'd learned and played them sooner.

How the hell do you struggle in ANY Pokemon game unless you're using weakling low tier monsters? Almost every Pokemon game gives you access to an Abra or Archen relatively early and either of those things turns the games into a cakewalk.

Apoc had the best gameplay, and the story is entertaining (but not really good), but they really shit the bed a lot on different parts of that game

3DS does have IV, DeSu 1+2, Soul Hackers, and now Strange Journey Redux so the statement is still correct though

The movepool is terrible, there's nothing like abilities that make monsters unique outside of their stats, etc

SMT is a great single player experience, but there's no room for creativity or interesting builds.

Fusion requires far more thought than just getting your monsters up to a certain level for it to get bigger and have a stat upgrade. You have to actually think about what you want to fuse and how.

yeah but there's no meaning in any of the choices you make because any monster can have anything. There's no reason to do anything other than to fuse and pass the best set of 8 skills to any given high level demon, or to pass the best set of 8 skills necessary to beat a given boss at a mid point in the game.

Restrictions breed creativity.

IV A solves that problem since demons have affinities in that game, meaning one of them might be a beast with healing, fire and gun damage while being shit tier with phys skills, ailments and buffs.
There's a reason why IV A is considered to have the best gameplay to date

let's be honest you just get bunch of fusion trash from converation and look up the patterns to get a demon that's good enough to beat whatever boss

there's not opportunity cost or interesting decision making because you can just use the compendium to keep a record of whatever you fused away if you want it again, or just make another one

Try passing a powerful build onto a Katakirauwa in SMT 4 Apocalypse WITHOUT accounting for its bad affinities, numerous weaknesses and low level. Also, you only get access to 8 Skills when you're actually close to the end. Mid-game, you only get like 5 or 6 Skill slots, limiting you and demanding far more skill and creativity.

You don't even have to memorize them. An online fusion tool exists for that anyway. How is using whatever's available to you any dumber or less costly than how Pokemon handles it? Only reason scrubs choose Charmander in RBY is cuz they're too occupied jerking it to design than using the utility of Bulbasaur to deal with the first 4 Gyms.

I've played Nocturne, IV, Strange Journey, DeSu 1+2, Soul Hackers, P2 Duology in terms of games that are actually SMT and not just modern persona stuff where none of it matters anyway cuz the game is so easy. I haven't finished apocalypse yet, I'm partway through, I'm in Mikaido right now

Anybody that's actually played SMT games will tell you the story is always so extremely different and convoluted between games that the timeline is all over the place and they even pull the 'alternate timeline' stuff a TON.
Meawhile, Pokemon is busy rehashing the story of a professor telling you how to play the game even if you already know so you can go on your journey to stop the bad guys from getting the box art Legendary for their scheme.

to be fair everything about SMT story is great until they get lazy with endings. Nocturne has the best endings out of any SMT games because it was a little more interesting than the standard Law/Chaos/Neutral decision

Fail to see how that's lying or blowing smoke since that's literally what fusion does for you. Then again, I'm told it's different between games. Builds for creatures a lot more interesting than builds for demons in SMT (especially endgame)

Also wrt the second part of your post, I feel like even real life christians don't agree with Law endings on the whole. Human beings like freedom and individuality too much to truly agree with most of the Law endings in SMT
