Them making the game more accessible even though any kid with half a brain could already beat any pokemon game made the single player experience really shallow. You also have the utter lack of meaningful content, now they just want us to shiny hunt and grind BP in the same single facility.
At least they've put real efforts into other aspects of the game and that makes them still enjoyable and worthwhile experiences but to be honest I've played through all first 5 gens multiple times each, bought both versions, played hacked roms, etc... With gen 6 and 7 I stuck to a single playthrough on one game since there is no value in replaying them aside from seeing cutscenes again which you can do on youtube or wherever.
