I'll admit, it's been a couple of years since I've played Gen 1. But is that fan theory about how Giovanni wanted to steal the Master Ball and capture MewTwo the actual plot? I get that the fan theory does fit the plot, even if this Reddit-tier picture does get some of the details wrong, but is there anything that's actually in the games that shows that this is anything other than a pure coincidence? The only things that come to my mind is that almost everyone in Team Rocket has a team that is almost the exact opposite of what you'd want to bring to a fight with MewTwo. Even Giovanni's team has nothing that'd be good for countering it.
