Ash taken down the entire battle frontier and two of them had legendary Pokémon but he still loses to Gary and learns that he is still weak. While Alain battled nine random trainer with mega evolved Pokémon and suddenly he is at Elite 4 level. This is what is called plot-armour and favouritism.
Alain never even bother using strategy , he won every single battle ether by pillowing though with Dragon Claw or Blast Burning them. The only reason he didn't got defeated because of Yajima's plot armour protecting his charizard.
It had nothing to do with the Executives, it was just a director and his attachment toward a character. The Executive would never get rid off something as marketable as Ash-Greninja since they even brought back Ash's charizard before Jotho ended. They would probably prefer a tie during the Kalos league. The only reason Alain win because somebody with authority wanted Alain to win at all cost.
There is no point trying to defend Alain or Yajima because the plot armour was obvious. Only Amourshipper tries to defend Alain and Yajima only because he teased Amourshipping in his interview.
