I bet you're the type of a person who knows so much about gamedev, you think if a small group of devs was added to a fuck huge one, it'd have a big impact on time it'd take to manage a single project.

It doesn't. Putting more people into a single project never works, that's why literally every big studio has side projects - not just because they care about indies/whatever else, but because they need to have these people work on something, when the main big titles have full teams.
