There's a difference between "core" and "mainline".

Core means that its still sticking to the established Pokemon battle formula but isn't exactly a numbered sequel or new generation. Like ORAS is a core game, but not technically mainline.

Mainline means its a completely new region and new generation.

Well that's lame. Is not that I can afford the switch to play the game to begin with, but aren't there people out there who already treat stuff from gen 2 like timeless just as if it was gen 1? wouldn't it make more sense from a bussiness standpoint to pander to kanto AND johto? you'd get the money from people who like gen 1 and also from people who like gen 2.

Kanto literally has Johto next door to it. They should've at least offer the original 151 Pokemon the ability to evolve into their Gen 2,3,or 4 form. This will appease all their customers. My favorite Pokemon is SLowking, why the fuck can't they allow me to evolve Slowpoke into Slowking.
