I might as well as keep playing the old games and rom hacking them if they aren't going to move the series forward in any real way outside kanto pandering and making worlds even smaller than before.
What's the point? The series needs to really get a real jump in fidelity and scope, something game changing.

Switch isn't that powerful of a console and pokemon will always look cartooney because it is a cartoon. The newer pokemon designs have been consistently getting more chibi to accommodate this.
