Mario Odyssey and Breath of the wild were not simplified ports of the original zelda and super mario bros with slightly modernized graphics. Regardless of what you might think of the quality, graphics, or content of those games, at least those were a new experience.

You weren't paying 110 dollars for a simplified kanto region

Combat power (CP), catch pokemon like in GO, no wild pokemon battles, and the likes. Basically a super casual GO hybrid of the kanto region. I mean, I suppose it could be fun doing co-op with a friend once but after that what point is there?
