I'm not excited for them, but I appreciate them. They're a good marketing choice for incorporating Pokemon GO fans into the main Pokemon fanbase.
Not only that, but they're also likely to be effective in holding fans over for Gen 8 to release next year. Honestly, the marketing for this event was done extremely well. Confirmation of pseudo-Core RPG titles releasing this year, followed by confirmation of true Main Series titles releasing next year. Prevents backlash from fans thinking that this is the future of Pokemon. Smart overall.

Maybe not “as fuck” but I’m content with the test games we’re getting. Downloaded Quest a little while ago, it’s a fun little super casual thing that you can literally ignore and it will play itself, much like Groudonsisters. I’m excited to see what Let’s Go actually entails when it releases, and what it means for the gen 8 game down the line.

That's how I feel. As a child (I'm 30 BTW), I never got to play pokemon or watch it, or have friends who played or watched it (fuck my parents) due to it being "satanic". When I was in college DP came out and i tried a few hours of Diamond, but got lost... it was too overwhelming. This looks fun, and approachable, and polished, and not overwhelming. i've always wanted to play it, but been intimidated. I feel this game finally breaks a barrier for me. I am genuinely excited for this game.

I'm disappointed by a couple of things but mainly I'm happy. Looking through some of the Q&A, I'm liking what I see. We can catch wild eevee and pikachu to evolve, starter eevee and pikachu can be boxed, they got rid of those awful pokeride safety gear and saddles, and no connection to Sun and Moon other than the Alola forms.

You're thinking about it all wrong. The core games just jettisoned the casual demographic. That leaves them with a lot more freedom in terms of design decisions. I don't think we've ever been this close to the possibility of a more complex pokemon game

I'm pretty excited, I actually watched the trailer and my jaw dropped. While it sucks ass that a small amount of features aren't included, including battling wild Pokemon, I'm still gonna play and enjoy it. I'll have a reason to get a Switch alongside other games I want for it too and we can all look forward to Gen 8 next year so these are fine to tide us over. I think the graphics look great despite what others say, it fits Pokemon's cartoony style and it's interesting to see Pokemon actually be in HD for once. We also know that a Gen 8 Pokemon will make an appearance in these games so we'll get a first glimpse at the next games through it too. Overall it seems like it'll be a good and genuinely interesting take on a spin off or a hybrid whichever it is, and we know the mechanics taken from these games will be back in Gen 8. That may even include following Pokemon.

I'm super excited. They look like a lot of fun. Sun and Moon were both core games and they were huge let-downs, and after playing this series for literally 20 years of my life, I'm looking forward to a simpler experience. The knowledge that a more core experience is coming next year, too, is just icing on the cake. That said, I'm a bit disappointed there's no cross-gen evos in this. Crobat and Steelix are some of my favorite Pokemon.

This seems to be a better effort than pokémon Go.
That game was little more than asset swapping, the only interesting thing about it was the public's reaction.

If it's used as such to draw in cash from Go users (former users, let's get real) while testing shit for the upcoming 8G, I don't see the harm.

And there's a small chance the game will have some level of hidden depth that will make it worth our while

It's not a reason to get a Switch for /vp/ but I'll monitor it.

I couldn't give any less of a fuck for no multiplayer. I'm a Hoennbaby but I'm cool with it only being Gen 1 and some alolans.

What I worry about is the content. If Wild Battles are out will there be more (and repeatable) trainer battles to compensate? Also they could have pushed for gen 1 and 2. 151 is not a lot in a glorified catch a thon.

I just hope they reveal a bit more about these games that make them worth the price, even for casual games.
